The Melbourne music community gathered at St Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in South Melbourne yesterday to farewell Chocolate Starfish guitarist Zoran Romic.
47-year old ‘Zoz’ lost his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma last Saturday. (March 31).
More than 1000 family and friends of Zoran attended the service, conducted by catholic priest and local celebrity Father Bob Maguire.
Zoz’s brothers and Chocolate Starfish singer Adam Thompson spoke at the service although Adam held back on road stories saying what happens on the road stays on the road.
Chocolate Starfish then performed their hit song ‘Mountain’ co-written by Adam and Zoran.
Zoran performed for the very last time with Chocolate Starfish on October 11, 2011, Zoz’s 47th birthday.
The show featured Screaming Jets, Models, Pseudo Echo, The Badloves, Boom Crash Opera and Billy Miller from The Ferrets. Adam tells me they plan to release the show on DVD for Zoran’s family.
