ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill has a bad tummy.

No, we are not being sarcastic. The official ZZ Top website states that he has a “tummy ailment” and that doctors have told him to rest for the next few weeks. The situation has caused the band to postpone all dates currently on their calendar; however, they are enthusiastic about the coming years.

The official statement:

ZZ’s cornerstone bass guitarist, Mr. Dusty Hill, is addressing a tummy ailment and is following a directive to lay low for the next few weeks. Whew!

The band rocks 2018 and to then blow it out in 2019 as they celebrate a big “50”…! Once-in-a-millennium.

ZZ Top was scheduled to play the South Carolina State Fair tomorrow (October 18) night and have dates in Fayetteville, NC, Richmond, VA, Upper Darby, PA, and Red Bank, NJ over the next week. Overall, they have 18 dates still shown on their calendar through the end of the year.

While their website statement says that Hill needs to rest “the next few weeks”, a separate posing on their Facebook page states “Upcoming scheduled dates on ZZ Top’s current tour are temporarily suspended and are arranged for immediate rescheduling.”

This isn’t the first time that the band has cancelled shows due to Hill’s health. In 2014, a number of shows, including the South Carolina State Fair, were postponed when Hill fell getting on a tour bus and dislocated his shoulder.

To date, ZZ Top have released fifteen studio albums over 46 years. Their last was 2012’s La Futura.
