Melbourne’s Tempus Sun has won the 2016 Melbourne Music Bank prize after putting on a convincing and stunning performance at Hamer Hall on Tuesday night.
The male/female harmony of five-piece Tempus Sun conjures thoughts of a jazz-tinged Fleetwood Mac. Tempus Sun won the competition with their song ‘Owls’.
The Melbourne Music Bank is no reality show. Every act who went through to the shortlist writes and performs their music. The Melbourne Music Bank is not a pop show. The contest attacks a variety of styles including the jazz influenced Tempus Sun.
The quality of the Melbourne Music Bank finalists with the strongest group of artists so far made it a difficult choice for the judges to decide. Any one of the four acts in the finale were worthy of winning.
Anna Oliphant Wright with her song ‘Hooks’, Birdhouse with ‘Bitter’ and singer Bloom with ‘Bittersweet’ all delivered songs worthy of a record deal.
The Melbourne Music Bank prize is a package artists can use to further their career.
