Founded in 2000, Inertia has grown to become Australia’s largest independent music company.
The Inertia group of labels includes Sub Pop, Warp, Soul Jazz and Downtown as well as a partnership with Melbourne based Remote Control to distribute XL Recordings, Matador, 4AD and Young Turks.
In 2006, Inertia set up touring company Civil Society and toured acts like Gary Numan, Tegan and Sara, Band of Horses and UNKLE. Recently Civil Society merged with Handsome Tours.
In 2011, Adele, the success story of the year, is distributed by Inertia in Australia.
