Dez Fafara formed DevilDriver as he former band Coal Chamber were coming to an end. The new band proved to be a creative powerhouse for Fafara who went on to record six albums with DevilDriver between 2003 and 2013.
The most recent record ‘Winter Kills’ is the most ferocious of DevilDriver records, cementing the sound built over the past decade but also leaving fans with that uneasy feeling of where they could be heading next.
That uncertainty leads directly back to Fafara’s personal influences. One day he may be listening to Motorhead, the next Johnny Cash.
The Dez Fafara story is equally fascinating. This is a guy who comes from a Hollywood celebrity family background (his dad and uncle were stars of Leave It To Beaver) and he has evolved into one of the heaviest bands on Earth all the while remaining one of rock’s nice guys.
