Jim Keays has returned with ‘Dirty Dirty’, one of the best albums of his career.
I have no doubt that by the end of the year this album is going to be one of those ones people keep mentioning as one of their favourite albums of the year.
‘Dirty Dirty’ is kind of a covers album. Jim has recorded songs from days gone by that represent the origins of Garage Punk. Them, The Move, John D. Loudermilk and Crazy Horse are just some of the acts who get the Jim Keays treatment on ‘Dirty Dirty’.
The band makes the record. Davey Lane from You Am I/The Pictures on guitar, Wolfie from The Pictures on drums and Mr Ted Lethborg on bass and the album producer, revitalise the legendary Keays in the recording studio, rivalling the energy from his Masters Apprentices days.
Jim called into Noise11.com to talk about ‘Dirty Dirty’. See what he had to say here.
‘Dirty Dirty’ is out now through Shock Records.
