Joan Baez is one of the most important social commentators in music. Her work through music as an activist has spread the work to millions about injustices on the planet.
Once upon a time the words of Joan Baez along with Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen influenced the masses and over road the politicians. When right-winged blogger Rowan Dean tried to patronise her on Q&A she minced him with “I’m a pacifist but I’m not an idiot”.
This interview was conducted in September 2015 so references to “Prime Minister of Australia” refer to Tony Abbott. Joan Baez spoke to Noise11.com’s Paul Cashmere.
