Australian singer songwriter Jordie Lane will tell the story of Gram Parsons in ‘Grievous Angel’.
The show will have its Australian premiere at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne on July 20.
Gram Parsons died at the age 26 on September 19, 1973. His story was short but incredible. Parsons was most likely the founder of alt-country, although there was not a term for it at the time.
His influence on the Rolling Stones inspired the band to dabble in country, especially noted on Exile On Main Street, but it was their ‘Wild Horses’ that Gram co-wrote and recorded before the Stones version on Sticky Finger.
Jordie Lane dropped into Noise11.com to talk about Grievous Angel and tell the Gram Parsons story.
