Elfin artist Lisa Mitchell is back with her new album Bless This Mess, and talks inspirational books, international sounds, and Evermore’s studios.
The stint on Australian Idol is far behind Lisa Mitchell, after her 2009 debut Wonder sold platinum and won the Australian Music Prize. Her new album Bless This Mess is the product of years of enlightenment which has bred a confidence in Mitchell to move past her cutesy folk beginnings.
We talk to her about recording in Evermore’s studios while they were under-construction, how a book that Clare Bowditch sent her resulted in a song and a guest spot, whether George Harrison spawned the trippy Eastern diversions, collecting her fans’ doodles, touring with buddies Alpine and Dann Hume, and more.
