Australian band Monks of Mellonwah have been getting traction in the USA.
The indie band from Sydney picked up the Best International Act award at the LA Music Awards in 2012 and won Best Indie Rock Band at the AIM Awards.
Monks Of Mellonwah are Vikram Kaushik (Vocals/Guitar), Joe de la Hoyde (Lead Guitar), John de la Hoyde (Bass), Joshua Baissari (Drums).
In their 2013 update they say, “After completing our USA tour in December 2012, we returned to Australia and completed an EP ‘Sky And The Dark Night’ a trilogy and also our Album ‘Turn The People’. We released Sky in March, 2013 to a wonderful international reception that included music blogs, magazine and radio. This set the stage for our album, but whilst there was, and still is, a burning desire to just release the album straight away, we decided it would be cool to release it in parts – Volumes 1,2 & 3, with each one telling a bit of a story!
“So on June 29th we released volume 1 ‘Ghost Stories’ along with a really cool video and plan now to release part 2 at the end of September and Part 3 at the end of December 2013”.
