The early of Ol’ 55 was a good time in Australian music.
Ol’55 initially formed in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire in 1972 with Frankie J. Holden and Wilbur Wilde added a few years later to form the most successful line-up of the band.
Wilbur and Frankie’s innings was a short one. They were only around for the debut album ‘Take It Greasy’. The two singles from the album ‘On The Prowl’ and ‘Looking For An Echo’ became the band’s two biggest hits.
After Frankie and Wilbur departed, Jimmy Manzie, Rockpile Jones and Patrick ‘Meatballs’ Drummond keep the band going with various members until Meatballs was the last man standing for the break-up in 1986.
Ol’55 was Australian music’s good fun had by all and the fun is underway again for shows in 2016.
