Singer/Songwriter Rodriguez is a music legend on so many levels yet you would never call him a star.

The 70-year old performer was recently the subject of the Academy-Award winning movie ‘Searching For Sugar Man’ but the humble Rodriguez says it is not his movie.

Rodriguez became a cult sensation in Australia in the mid 70s’ when 2JJ broadcaster Holger Brockman started playing his music on air. Rodriguez had recorded two albums ‘Cold Fact’ (1970) and ‘Coming From Reality (1971) both of which were critically acclaimed but commercial failures.

When Brockman started playing the music on radio in Sydney an audience for Rodriguez appeared. He would come to Australia and performed with Midnight Oil. Recently, he returned to Australia to perform with The Break featuring the members of Midnight Oil, so the story comes full-circle.

In Australia, Rodriguez sat down to talk about his music and career with Noise11’s Paul Cashmere.
