After 21 years and 65 productions Australia’s The Production Company has ceased production but the history goes on.

Jeanne Pratt AC founded The Production Company in 1998. The following year the first of 500+ performances was to begin under the guidance of Artistic Director Ken Mackenzie-Forbes and Executive Director Rachel D. Taylor.

In its 21 years The Production Company brought affordable theatre within reach of Melbourne’s live entertainment fans. The company generated work for hundreds of people in the entertainment industry, including actors and those behind the scenes.

The Production Company discovered talent. Some of today’s biggest stars of the stage like Amy Lehpamer, Caroline O’Connor and Lucy Durack had some of their first roles with thanks to The Production Company.

The Production Company brought diversity to the stage from the classic Broadway musicals like Sunset Boulevard and Oklahoma through to contemporary theatre with Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and the final David Bowie statement Lazarus.

Between 1999 and 2019 The Production Company built a goldmine of theatre productions and along with it, the stars.

The history is now online at theproductioncompany.com.au

Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Tour Is The End Of The Era #REVIEW

I still remember the CBS guy delivering Cyndi Lauper’s debut album ‘She’s So Unusual’ to EON-FM, the radio station I was working at in 1983. ‘She’s So Unusual’ was released on 14 October 1983, the same day as Lionel Richie’s ‘Can’t Slow Down’ and The Jam’s greatest hits album ‘Snap!’. It came out in the same week as Culture Club’s ‘Color By Numbers’. Those were the days when something important was happening every week with new music.
