The Sports were shooting stars in Australian rock. With just four albums in four years the band’s recorded works mainly were concentrated between 1978 and 1981.
The Sports had a string of new wave hits in Australia and touched some parts of the world. ‘Who Listens To The Radio’ made it to no 50 on the US Billboard chart in 1978. Songs like ‘Don’t Throw Stones’, Strangers On A Train’, ‘How Come’ and ‘Boys What Did The Detective Say’ still grace rock radio in Australia.
Warner Music Australia have reissued the first two albums for The Sports ‘Reckless’ and ‘Don’t Throw Stones’. The next two ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Sondra’ will follow during 2015.
Stephen Cummings fronted The Sports and will reform the band for shows in 2015.
