The Regent Theatre in Melbourne Australia played host to the very first We Will Rock You production outside England.

We Will Rock You opened in Australia in August 2003 and the production ran until August 2005, ending in Tokyo Japan.

Then another Australian production was put together in 2006 for more Japanese dates.

In August 2015 another Australian cast was announced. This season opened in Sydney in April and is currently on in Melbourne, back at The Regent, the place it started 13 years ago.

We Will Rock You is the music of Queen set to a story by Ben Elton. The story isn’t really that important. People come for the music tied together by a thin but clever plot.

This current Australian cast features Brian Mannix as Buddy, Casey Donovan as Killer Queen, Gareth Keenan as Galileo, Erin Clare as Scaramouche, Tern Reynold as Brit, Jaz Flowers as Oz and Simon Russell as Khashoggi.

Noise11’s Ros O’Gorman was at the Melbourne launch of We Will Rock You, hosted by Ben Elton.
