Everyone around 40-50 in Australia and the UK knows the No 1 song ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ by Wheatus but in Brendan B. Brown’s homeland USA the song went relatively unnoticed, not even making the Top 100.
24 years on and Wheatus are still played on Australian radio. In fact that 4 minutes and 7 seconds of alt-pop a quarter of a century ago is still popular enough to earn Wheatus a slot on the Pandemonium festival with Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Blondie and Placebo.
In February 2024, Brendan will also tour Australia solo and acoustic performing the songs of Wheatus (and maybe an AC/DC song too).
Brendan spoke to Paul Cashmere of Noise11.com.
